The ten minute Sunday reset

Most of the friction between two busy adults running a house is not about big decisions. It is about small things nobody wrote down. Who is picking up on Thursday. Whether there is anything for dinner Wednesday. Whether we are out of coffee.
The fix that has worked for us is boring: ten minutes on Sunday, same time every week, phones out, three things.
1. The calendar, three minutes
Look at the week together. Every pickup, practice, appointment, and late night at work goes in, with the person's name on it. If it is not on the shared calendar, it did not happen. This is the rule that makes everything else work.
If your kids' activities live in a school or club calendar, import it once and stop retyping it.
2. Dinners, four minutes
Pick five dinners. Not seven, five. Two nights are always going to be leftovers or takeout and pretending otherwise is how the plan dies. Put them on the days, and note who is cooking.
Then let the shopping list build itself from those dinners.
3. The shopping list, three minutes
Walk through the kitchen once. Anything low goes on the list. The list lives on both phones, so whoever passes a store can knock it out, and whoever adds "we're out of coffee" on Tuesday morning does not need to text anyone.
What this replaces
About forty text messages a week, in our house. Most of them starting with "did you see".
Doing it in HomeForge
Every part of this is one screen in HomeForge: a shared calendar with color per person and calendar import, a meal planner that generates the shopping list, and a shopping list that updates on both phones the moment someone adds or checks something. The morning digest then reminds each of you what is on for today.
It is free for a family of four, and the Sunday reset is the first thing worth doing once you are set up.
